Ingredients

Octorika Dry Queen Fish - 4 to 5 medium pieces (soaked & cleaned)

Tamarind - small lemon-sized ball (soaked in warm water)

Small onions - 8 to 10 (sliced)

Tomatoes - 1 large (chopped)

Garlic - 6 cloves (crushed)

Curry leaves - a handful

Mustard seeds - ยฝ tsp

Turmeric powder - ยผ tsp

Red chili powder - 1 tsp

Coriander powder - 1ยฝ tsp

Fenugreek seeds - ยผ tsp

Oil - 2 tbsp

Salt - to taste

Water - as required

Method

Soak Octorika dry queen fish in warm water for 15-20 minutes to soften and remove excess salt. Drain and set aside.

Heat oil in a clay pot or deep pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, garlic, and onions. Sautรฉ until golden.

Add tomatoes, turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes break down.

Pour in tamarind water and bring to a boil. Gently add the soaked fish. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the curry thickens and the fish soaks up the masala.

Finish with fresh curry leaves and rest the curry for 15 minutes before serving.
